This plate was quickly thrown in a rush and the edges where a little bit messed up because of the speed of the wheel as i pulled out. The height of the plate was roughly 2 inches while the diameter is 5 and half inches. The glazing is extremely simple while the plates form is also quite simple. This allows the two to complement each other and with the little black specs that dot around the plate gives it a new lease on like and a bit more "life". What i plan on improving next time is the speed at which i throw the plate to prevent the bumpy edges on the plate.
The planter had a very fluid form while contrasting with the complex glazing. and stands at a small 4 inches tall and 5 inches wide. the dripping glaze was very nice contrast in colors between the light and darker glazes. There isnt much unity in the bowl because there was so much going on but its still very nice. something that i could improve on would be the size of the center bowl, maybe open it up more.
This choice bowl was one of my larger bowls standing about 6 in and having a very smooth edge of the bowl. I improved by pulling more up from the base as you had told me about. The diameter of it is about 4-5 inches. The form of the bowl is very rounded but not shpereical. The simple glazing complemented the simple form of the bowl. i could improve with the glazong next time.
The vase has design element of contrast with the dark and light colors andd stands roughly 5 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter the vase is very stubby and has a bent edge that is equal distant throughout the entire creation. Then the form is very fluid giving the simple glazing a unity with the form.
This bowls form is very simple while its glazing adds a lot to the the mix giving it depth and color. The two colors that i picked out were white and the mint blue, which gave a very complimenting contrast. While i could of imporved the base of the bowl because its too thick and could cause isues with the bowl when firing or while in use.
This bowl was supposed to mirror bowl 1 but mistakes happened during the glazing process which was unavoidable. Someone elses project exploded, causing large amount of glaze and shrapnel. Also then the heat of the khelm caused the colors that i picked last time to change completely. The form is still very similar to the last bowl though and you can see some remains of the glazing.
This mug's form is very basic in design elements with a simple glazing of onr color and a very basic handle and cup. the footing gives a nice balance and downward curve to the bottom of the cup. The most stelling design elemeny of the cup is the nice hint of tan on the handles giving it a nice rustic look. Something that I could work on in the future could be the handle because im honestly terrible at making those things.
Dotting a plate is extremely frustrating i could never get enough glaze in the brush to make it a nice little blob. The form of the plate could be a bit better too because the center mass is a bit off enough it wobbles a tad. The glazing is quickly done because i didn't know how much glaze would run and how much would make a nice deep colored dot. I'd like to redo this plate or just completely rework it into a new project lifting the edges and smoothing out the outer center area. Even though the footing is the best I've done on any of my plates. This in my mind is more of a goblet than a vase, but the contrast between the blue and the white gives a nice look away from the trashy thrown lipping. The form is decent all the way up until the top because i struggled with the final curve inwards and always messed up even after 3 times of redoing it. I finally gave up and gave rise to this creation. |
