I really wanted to do a bunch of mugs that had animal aspects about them but time constraints caused me to resort to plates. So the plates that i made were plates with animals and the ones that are finished are the first three but i have another 2 in the process of being made. The design principles of the plate are emphasis on the animals in the center with them being black and the rest of the plate being whiteish tan. The things i could do to improve the plates is throwing a more even plate across the entire thing.
This project is roughly 5 inches in diameter, and about 4 have a nice contrast between the mint green and darker mix. The mint green is blotted around the bowl giving a sense of texture to the whole project. While the principles of design give emphasis on the colors of that are spotted around the bowl in a very random pattern. Even though it is random it give a sense of harmony. Things i could improve would be the smoothness of the altered area of the project which is a bit bumpy.
This set of three bowls are glazed and painted extremely similarly. The size of them is about 4 inches by 4 inches and have a art elements of color and value. This is caused by the tan colors complementing the orange colors. Then the darker colors of orange against tan giving it value. The principle of design are movement when the look is directed to the center of the bowl to see the sleeping mexican. Somethings i could improve could be the overall form of all the bowls.
The lidded project was a quick to make but had a very rough texture with the aspects of contrast. The principles of design give pattern as they decrease from the darker orange to the dark green but the vase contrasts with the lid which is made to be more parted and not as full as the vase. The elements of art is value between the brighter top of the vase and brighter lower part of the vase.
The first bowl of the semester came out very fine, the form was very bold of burly. The copper green is very full and gives the bowl a smooth texture. The lines give the bowl some form and it stands about 4 inches in heigth while 6 in diameter. Things i could improve could be the thickness of the walls of the bowl because they are pretty fat.
This frankenpot took awhile to complete because both ashley and rosa struggled heavily with the wheel until we got to the decorating which Rosa shined and made a nice quote from the wizard of oz "There is no place like home". the colors of white and black contrast pretty well and make the words pop out. Even though rosa didn't add a witch or a cow flying around in the whole situation. The whole project stands roughly 6 inches tall and 4 inches wide, i honestly how rosa made it into a tornado even though she didn't see it at first.
The surface area of this purely green tall project is very rugid and gives a design element of rough texture but the basic form of the project complements the nature of it. The values of the colors are diffrent becaise inside of it there are spirals which give this nice fading spiral effect. Many things that i could improve next time is not letting my hand get in the way of my pulling up making it nasty. Then a new skill i learned was making a notch near the base to allow for the glaze to get caught taught by you. The artwork speaks to me with its roughly 6 inch tall heigth and
